Chasing the Blue Hour over Budapest

I arrived at my chosen location a little earlier than planned – the iconic Buda Castle. After a quick look around and selecting the perfect spot, I set up my tripod and waited for the magic to happen, ready to capture the Blue Hour.

Even though I’ve visited many cities around the world, there’s something truly special about the view of Budapest’s skyline that I never seem to tire of. I love watching the boats on the Danube, the Budapest Eye at Erzsébet Square, and the BalloonFly in City Park – all of which have become an integral part of the city’s landscape. The crowds on the Danube promenade move in a constant wave, while people nearby are lost in the breathtaking view of the river.
I take it all in: the hustle, the beauty, the energy.

As the sun sets and the sky is painted in hues of gold and purple, gradually fading into the cool, serene tones of the Blue Hour, the majestic Chain Bridge’s lights slowly come to life, casting a warm golden glow against the darkening sky.

In the Turkish garden, amid the blooming roses, I discovered a beautiful little fountain that looked absolutely stunning in the soft light of the setting sun, with the hills of Buda rising gracefully in the background. The garden quickly became one of my favorite spots in the city, offering a perfect escape from the crowds and noise just beyond its walls.


In my head, there’s always some background music to match the mood – today, it’s Paolo Nutini’s Last Request.
These moments... each shot I take is a little piece of that feeling.

From Gellért Hill to Bartók Béla Avenue: A Perfect November Walk

On Sunday afternoon, my mother and I decided to head up Gellért Hill and take a stroll around the 11th district. I brought along my M.Zuiko 45mm f/1.8 lens to capture the beauty of the autumn colors. From the top of the hill, the view was just stunning, and even though it was pretty cold, with our hats and scarves on, the walk felt really pleasant. The Citadella is still under renovation, but the Liberty Statue might soon be visible without scaffolding. The setting sun reflected off the Liberty (Szabadság) and Elizabeth (Erzsébet) bridges, and the clouds turned all kinds of colors. The Mol Campus stood out against the skyline, and I could even spot the giant Ferris wheel in the distance. Urban Curves and Lines: The Samyang Fisheye in Action

As a photography lover, I’m always on the lookout for lenses that offer unique perspectives and creative possibilities. That's why I added the Samyang 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye lens to my collection, and while I don’t carry it everywhere, it never fails to impress me with its performance when I do use it. I bought it secondhand, and it arrived in almost perfect condition. It’s quickly become one of my favorite tools for shooting urban architecture, and I’ve captured some truly striking images with it. The fisheye lens is all about dramatic, wide-angle distortion. Despite being a manual focus lens, I’ve found it incredibly easy to work with, and the results speak for themselves. One of the first things I noticed was its slightly yellowish color cast.
