The Art of Fusion: Photography, Painting, and the Dynamic Interplay of Colors

Creativity often manifests in unexpected ways. I find inspiration all around me, constantly seeking new opportunities to blend art, color, and texture. Last year, I embarked on a project that felt truly unique – a fusion of photography, painting, and the dynamic interplay of colors. 

The idea for this experiment with oil bubbles was inspired by the colorful works of Hungarian artist Aladár Almásy and my passion for macro photography. I aimed to combine his colorful artwork with my own photographic approach, focusing on the role of color and texture in the creative process.

To begin, I placed an image of one of Almásy’s striking paintings underneath a large, clear container filled with water. This way, the image stayed dry and untouched, while I introduced a few drops of oil, which immediately floated on the water and began to form delicate bubbles. These bubbles, small but captivating, shifted and moved in unexpected patterns, creating unique designs within the water.

Following this, I decided to incorporate my own oil pastel drawings, using the same oil bubble technique to create additional images. This part of the project was just as fascinating- experimenting with different patterns and colors, capturing the dynamic interaction between the oil and water in new and surprising ways.

Photography, at its core, is about capturing moments or emotions. But when working with something as unpredictable as water and oil, it becomes much more than just a snapshot. It’s about seizing the essence of movement, transformation, and the fleeting beauty of a moment in time.

Following that, I tried something different. Using various shades of shimmering nail polish, I painted dried leaves, creating a stunning contrast of textures and colors. The nail polish gave the leaves a glossy finish, with the rich tones catching the light in surprising ways, highlighting all the details.

For this, I used my M.Zuiko 60mm macro lens, which allowed me to get up close and really focus on the texture of the paint and the natural patterns in the leaves. The result was a set of unique, almost dreamlike images that brought together nature, color, and creativity in a fresh way.

From Gellért Hill to Bartók Béla Avenue: A Perfect November Walk

On Sunday afternoon, my mother and I decided to head up Gellért Hill and take a stroll around the 11th district. I brought along my M.Zuiko 45mm f/1.8 lens to capture the beauty of the autumn colors. From the top of the hill, the view was just stunning, and even though it was pretty cold, with our hats and scarves on, the walk felt really pleasant. The Citadella is still under renovation, but the Liberty Statue might soon be visible without scaffolding. The setting sun reflected off the Liberty (Szabadság) and Elizabeth (Erzsébet) bridges, and the clouds turned all kinds of colors. The Mol Campus stood out against the skyline, and I could even spot the giant Ferris wheel in the distance. Urban Curves and Lines: The Samyang Fisheye in Action

As a photography lover, I’m always on the lookout for lenses that offer unique perspectives and creative possibilities. That's why I added the Samyang 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye lens to my collection, and while I don’t carry it everywhere, it never fails to impress me with its performance when I do use it. I bought it secondhand, and it arrived in almost perfect condition. It’s quickly become one of my favorite tools for shooting urban architecture, and I’ve captured some truly striking images with it. The fisheye lens is all about dramatic, wide-angle distortion. Despite being a manual focus lens, I’ve found it incredibly easy to work with, and the results speak for themselves.
